⚠ The DANA Mould Wave

18 months after the flood — mould is only now becoming visible.

DANA hit Valencia in October 2024. Moisture locked inside walls, floors and insulation over winter. Now, 12–18 months later, that moisture is feeding mould colonies invisible behind paint and plaster.

60% of affected properties had insufficient insurance coverage. Thousands more were sold and resold — with moisture still active inside. If you bought in L'Horta Sud or Valencia city after October 2024, a certified inspection is no longer optional.

The problem for expats

Three things no competitor can help you with.

Every other restoration company in Valencia operates in Spanish only — and none hold IICRC certification. That leaves 133,000 English speakers with no professional option.

01

You can't manage a Spanish insurance claim alone.

MAPFRE, AXA, and CCS all operate in Spanish. Their adjusters (peritos) document in Spanish. Without bilingual help, your claim stalls, gets underpaid, or is denied on technicalities.

02

No other company can produce insurer-standard documentation.

Spanish insurance companies require IICRC S500 drying logs to authorise and pay claims. Without them, no certified documentation exists and your insurer won't release funds.

03

Post-DANA mould may be hiding inside your property.

Sellers, landlords, and estate agents are repainting over damp damage. Without a thermal camera inspection and IICRC-certified report, you have no legal protection after purchase.

Common questions

Answers for expat property owners.

If your question isn't here, WhatsApp us — we respond in English within the hour.

Not at all. Every aspect of our service is delivered in English — site visits, reports, email communication, and insurance liaison. Rita handles all Spanish communication with insurers, adjusters (peritos), and CCS on your behalf. You will never need to write a word in Spanish.
In most cases, yes. MAPFRE, AXA, Zurich, Allianz, and the government's CCS fund all pay for water damage restoration when documented to IICRC S500 standard — which is exactly what we produce. We are registered as preferred contractors, meaning your insurer can dispatch us directly. We bill them, not you, for insurance-covered work.
Book a mould certificate inspection as soon as possible. Thousands of properties in the DANA zone were sold with moisture concealed behind fresh paint. If mould appears after you've signed, you have no recourse without a pre-purchase certified report. Our bilingual IICRC report is legally admissible in Spanish courts — it's the document that protects your purchase.
Book a slot via cal.com — 20 slots are available for August 2026. We attend for 60 minutes with a thermal camera and calibrated moisture meters, inspect the entire property, and leave you with a written bilingual summary on the day. There's no charge and no obligation. If we find active moisture or mould, we quote for a paid service. Either way, you get a €10 gift voucher for any future paid work. You'll be asked to consent to onsite footage being used on our social media.
We aim for 24-hour response across our territory — Valencia city, L'Horta Sud, Gandia, Dénia, Benidorm, and Alicante. For active flooding or burst pipes, call or WhatsApp us directly — don't email. Standing water causes more damage every hour, so we prioritise emergency calls.
A full water damage job typically includes: emergency water extraction, structural drying with LGR dehumidifiers and air movers, daily monitoring visits with psychrometric data logging, demolition of non-salvageable materials (drywall, insulation), and a final IICRC S500 drying log plus clearance certificate — the document your insurer requires to close the claim and authorise reinstatement work. All paperwork is bilingual.
